On 16th of June, 2001, representatives from Parents’ Councils and from the Management of the schools: Perikli Ikonomi, Mark Dashi, Naim Frashëri, Andon Profka, Jani Bakalli and Liri Gero established together the Parents Forum.

    With the support of CRS (Catholic Relieving Services), this forum grew and strengthened through trainings, seminars, round tables, and exchange of experiences. As a result, was established the Regional Association of Parents.

    On 28th September 2004, was held the second Conference of the Association, where was announced its establishment and representatives from other schools were invited to become part of it.

    The Regional Association of Parents operates in the whole Region of Fier. With its human resources and the credibility in the schools’ management, parents groups, education institutions and donors, this association has undertaken and implemented various projects in the education field.

    The regional Association of the parents Fier is member of the National Confederation of Parents.

    To establish and institutionalize consistent relations between parents’ groups and school institutions.

    To strengthen the partnership school – community through the involvement of the parents in the schools' problems.

    To make the community more aware to attend in school problems.

    To make the society aware for the needs of the schools at the moment and establishment of a new mentality in community about this.

    To give support to the teachers and parents in schools to solve the problems, which are faced in the education process.

    To increase the capacities of the parents’ groups so they will become more skillful in the education process and increase their awareness for the role they have in this process.

    The association exercises its activity based on its status.

    The council of each school member of the association is the base unit upon which the association is established. Each council has the right of representation on the Association’s Assembly with 2 members.

    The leading unit of the association is the management, which is composed by 8 members: parents and representatives of the schools which are members of the association. The management meets every 2 months and operates based on the regulation approved by the Assembly. The decisions are taken through voting.

    The highest unit of the association is the Assembly which meets every 2 years and elects the Executive Directors and the management.

    The association has its own stamp and the bank account. Its main office is near the high school “Janaq Kilica”.

    The Regional Association of Parents operates in the whole Region of Fier, including municipalities and communes.

    The Regional Association of Parents collaborates with NPOs and governmental institutions to ensure strategic partners and the implementation of various projects in the field of education.

    Exchange of experiences with the network of Parents’ Associations in all Albania, as well as with Parents’ Associations in Kosovo, Macedonia, and Montenegro.

    Various projects that have in their focus the education and the problems which come in the process of education.
